The zither (especially the guqin) was historically used by scholars, monks, and Daoist hermits for self-reflection, harmony with nature, and emotional regulation. Its tones are soft, spacious, and subtle → ideal for quieting the heart. In Zen/Daoist meditation, music is not for entertainment but for returning to emptiness.
